Welcome to the official website of the Chesapeake/Virginia Beach (VA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated.
It is my distinct honor to serve as president of this distinguished chapter of accomplished women who are bound by friendship and united in service. Since our chartering in 1976, the Chesapeake/Virginia Beach (VA) Chapter has remained steadfast in its commitment to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the cultural and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.
Guided by the mission and programmatic priorities of The Links, Incorporated, our chapter implements transformational programs through the organization’s Five Facets: Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends and Services, Health and Human Services, and International Trends and Services. Through these facets, we address critical community needs, foster meaningful partnerships, and advance initiatives that create measurable and lasting impact locally, nationally, and globally.
The members of the Chesapeake/Virginia Beach (VA) Chapter are women of influence, purpose, and vision who are committed to strengthening communities, cultivating friendship, and preserving the proud legacy of service that defines our organization.
As you explore our website, we invite you to learn more about our chapter, our programs, and our enduring commitment to friendship, service, and transformational leadership.
Dr. Aliecia McClain
Chapter President

The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit corporation established in 1946. It is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations committed to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other people of African ancestry.
Our Mission is Friends transforming communities through service.
In 1976, Mary Brabble and Evelyn Williams were instrumental in organizing the chartering of the Chesapeake/Virginia Beach (VA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. Twenty-nine women comprise of the charter members under the leadership of the 6th National President, Link Pauline Ellison.

Programming is the heart of Linkdom. From the very first program facet created in 1958 to the last facet created in 2010, members of The Links, Incorporated have used the five facets as the bedrock of our service and friendship. These five programming facets -Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends and Services, International Trends and Services, and Health and Human Services-afford us the opportunity to create and sustain collaborative partnerships with organizations and individuals who share similar goals of strengthening our communities. Through friendship and service, we promote and engage in educational, civic and inter-cultural activities that enrich the lives of members of the Black community while also addressing the most critical needs of the under-served communities.

On the evening of November 9, 1946, Margaret Rosell Hawkins and Sarah Strickland Scott, two young Philadelphia visionaries, invited seven of their friends to join them in organizing a new type of inter-city club that would respond to the needs and aspirations of Black women in ways that existing clubs did not. They intended that the club would have a threefold aim-civic, educational, and cultural.
Today, The Chesapeake-Virginia Beach Chapter of The Links, Incorporated has a membership roster to include some of the most influential leaders in our community. We are a chapter of business owners, corporate executives, healthcare professionals, teachers, social workers, civic leaders, and IT professionals dedicated to positively impacting our community.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and fund our mission through programmatic activities and scholarships.

We are looking to partner with local organizations to transfer our communities through service.
